Korea's #1 Boyband vs SM Entertainment

Who knew they’d go this far? On August 21st, the legal representative of TVXQ members Jae-joong, Jun-su and Yoo-chun met with a wakil of SM Entertainment in court to settle the heated dispute of their “unjust contracts.” The members legal rep (Se-jong Law Firm) argued over the unjust distribution of income. SM quickly countered the attack by claiming to have incurred losses for 4 years while the boys trained for their debut, therefore causing a “fair” profit distribution today. Basically, as idols trainees, the boys were simply creating debt.

The lawyer stated the members wish to disband from their current company (SM) while still continuing activities as DBSK with the other two members. This type of group isn’t unheard of, as veteran kpop group Shinhwa functioned in the same way.

An agreement has yet to be reached.
